At Troop 2 Westerleigh, advancement is more than earning badges — it’s about growth, skills, confidence, and having fun along the way! 🌟 Whether you’re just joining or on your journey to Eagle Scout, here’s how the path works:

Scouts advance through seven ranks. Each one builds on skills, leadership, service, and outdoor adventures.

🟢 Scout – Getting started: learn basics, Scout Oath & Law.
🟡 Tenderfoot – Intro to camping, hiking, and physical fitness.
🟠 Second Class – Learn navigation, first aid, and community service.
🔵 First Class – Master outdoor skills and team leadership.
🟣 Star – Earn merit badges, serve as a leader, and give back.
🔴 Life – Focus on leadership, advanced skills, and community.
⚜️ Eagle – Scouting’s highest honor. Requires leadership, merit badges, and a major service project.

📅 Scouts advance at their own pace — no pressure, no deadlines.
📘 Each Scout keeps a handbook to track progress.
🧑‍🤝‍🧑 Scouts work with leaders, merit badge counselors, and older Scouts to complete requirements.
✅ Once ready, they have a Scoutmaster Conference and a Board of Review.

There are over 135 badges! Some are required for Eagle, others reflect your hobbies and future goals.

Advancement includes taking on leadership roles in the troop (like Patrol Leader or Quartermaster).
Scouts also do service projects to help the community.
